Give the creative idea a workable production plan

Some projects start with a finished concept; others begin with an open brief. We discuss FMD’s role in concept and format development, planning, filming or post-production. Responsibilities, budgets and approval routes are agreed around the specific project.

Produce an existing concept
The brief, visual references and required deliverables become a defined production scope. Locations, crew and resources need to support the creative idea.
Develop a format together
When the idea is still open, the audience, storytelling approach and recurring structure come first. Documentary, creator series and branded entertainment are considered in relation to the brief.
Plan film and supporting assets
Campaigns often need more than a main film. Photography, shorter edits and different aspect ratios should be planned before the shoot.

Ideas put into practice

From the brief to production

  1. Brief and responsibilities

Bring together the existing concept, open tasks and project contacts.

  2. Scope and budget

Define filming, post-production, versions, usage rights and timing.

  3. Approvals and delivery

Agree review stages and technical requirements before production begins.

Before we begin

Can we bring a finished concept?

Yes. An existing creative concept can be the starting point for the production plan.

Can FMD help with the creative development?

Yes. The work can range from a film concept to a documentary or series idea. The exact scope is defined in the brief.

How are client contact and approvals organised?

Project contacts, presentation to the end client and approval routes are agreed in advance, keeping the responsibilities of agency and production clear.

What helps with an initial assessment?

A brief or concept, audience, media and versions, location, deadline, budget range and known requirements for usage rights.
